Community Consumer Policy

The Member States of CARICOM in Part II of Chapter VIII of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, set out the key elements and responsibilities for the implementation and enforcement of Community Consumer Protection Policy.

Articles 184, 185 and 186 set out the national and regional elements of the legal and institutional arrangements to promote and protect the interests of consumers, and by the Commission to provide support to Member States in the promotion of consumer welfare and interests.

Article 184 specifically addresses the issue of the Promotion of Consumer Interests in the Community

Article 185 specifically addresses the issue of Protection of Consumer Interests in the Community

Article 186 specifically addresses the issue of the Action by the Commission to Provide Support in the Promotion of Consumer Welfare and Protection of Consumer Interests
